Just over a year after Nick Swisher was introduced to Indians fans as one of the new faces of the team, he's getting his own television special. SportsTime Ohio announced on Monday that it will profile Swisher's life in a new feature program that debuts on Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. ET.
The special, "Nick Swisher: Revealed," will go back to Swisher's upbringing, including a visit with his father, former Major Leaguer Steve Swisher, on how his nine-year Major League career shaped his son's talent, passion and attitude. Nick Swisher also discusses his grandmother and her influence, as well as his relationship with Cleveland fans.
Swisher took over first base in Cleveland last year after signing a free-agent contract in January, making the transition from four years in Yankees pinstripes. The 33-year-old batted .246 in his first season in Cleveland with 22 home runs and 63 RBIs.
Those who miss the debut airing next Friday will have several more chances to catch it. The profile is slated to air a half-dozen more times in January, including 10 p.m. next Friday and more replays through February leading up to the start of the Cactus League schedule.
