Indians, Angels complete trade
CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following transactions relative to the 40-man roster:
Acquired LHP NICK MARONDE from the Los Angeles Angels for a player to be named or cash…Optioned Maronde to the Minor Leagues (affiliate assignment TBD).
Transferred DH JASON GIAMBI from the 15-day Disabled List to the 60-day DL.
Maronde, 24, has appeared in 33 Major League games for the Angels over the last three seasons since 2012, compiling no record with a 7.13 ERA in 33 relief outings (17.2IP, 22H, 16R/14ER, 18BB, 19K). He has split the 2014 season between the LA Angels, AAA Salt Lake, AA Arkansas and the AZL Angels prior to being designated for assignment on July 10. The Lexington, KY native was Los Angeles' 3rd round pick in the 2011 draft out of the University of Florida. He owns a career Minor League record of 13-8 with a 3.23 ERA in 90 games/29 starts (220.1IP, 176H, 79ER, 105BB, 227SO, 9.3SO/9.0IP, 7.2 hits/9.0IP).
