The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the 40-man roster:
Russell, 31, has posted a seven-year Major League ERA of 4.09 (334.2IP, 340H, 152ER) over 394 games/6 starts with Chicago-NL, Atlanta and Philadelphia since debuting in 2010. He began his professional career in 2007 in the Cubs organization (14th round out of the University of Texas) and finished in the top ten in the National League in appearances in 2012 (77 games) and 2013 (74 games). He split the 2016 season in the Phillies organization between the Major League and Triple-A levels and was a member of Philadelphia's Opening Day roster. He is the son of former Major League pitcher Jeff Russell, who appeared in 13 games for the 1994 Indians and enjoyed a 14-year career.
