Indians invite RHP Scott Athison to Major League camp

The Cleveland Indians today announced the club has signed free agent RHP SCOTT ATCHISON to a Minor League contract with a non-roster invitation to Major League spring training camp.

Atchison, 37, owns a career Major League record of 10-10 with one save and a 3.64 ERA in 205 Major League appearances (1GS, 255.0IP, 244H, 103ER, 71BB, 192K, .253AVG) since debuting with the Seattle Mariners in 2004. He spent the 2013 season with the New York Mets, appearing in 50 games and finishing third on the club with ten holds despite a pair of trips to the Disabled List (right elbow strain/right groin strain). His best season came in 2012 with the Boston Red Sox (1.58ERA, 42 games), compiling the fourth-lowest relief ERA in Major League Baseball among relievers with at least 50.0 innings pitched. He began his professional career in 1999 after being selected by Seattle in the 49th round of the 1998 draft out of TCU.

The Indians now have extended eleven (11) non-roster invites to Major League camp.
