Indians promote INF Jesus Aguilar from Columbus; place OF Nyjer Morgan on 15-day DL

CLEVELAND, OH - The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Recalled INF JESUS AGUILAR (#36) from AAA Columbus

Placed OF NYJER MORGAN on the 15-day Disabled List with a right knee sprain.

Aguilar, 23, has spent the entire year to date with the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, hitting .298 (39-131) with 8 doubles, 7 home runs and 19RBI in 37 games (.395OB/.519SLG/.914OPS). During his tenure with the Clippers he is batting .346 (18-52) with 5 2B, 4HR & 9RBI (.460/.673/1.133) off left-handed pitching. Added to the 40-man in the off-season, the Maracay, Venezuela native will be making his debut at the Major League level batting sixth (DH) tonight in Rogers Centre against the Toronto Blue Jays wearing #36.

Morgan was injured flagging down a batted ball to left field last night in the 6th inning and was removed an inning later. Marks his fifth career stint on the Major League DL.
