Indians recall LHP Scott Barnes and CA Yan Gomes; Lou Marson placed on the 15-Day DL
The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:
Recalled CA YAN GOMES and LHP SCOTT BARNES from AAA Columbus.
Placed CA LOU MARSON on the 15-day Disabled List with right shoulder inflammation (retroactive to April 25).
Gomes returns to the Major League roster after appearing in 6 games with the Indians from April
9-24, hitting .211 (4-19) with a triple, 2 homers and 3RBI in 6 games (.842OPS). Around his two week stint he has hit .300 (6-20) with 4 2B & 3RBI in 6 games for the Columbus Clippers. He wears #10.
Barnes begins his first stint with Cleveland this season, having started the year in AAA Columbus following his option out of Major League spring training camp on March 21. With Columbus he went 2-0 with a 4.70 ERA in 7 relief outings (7.2IP, 7H, 4R/ER, 5BB, 8K, .280AVG) and limited batters to a .182 (2-11) average against with runners on and a .250 (2-8) mark by left-handed hitters.
Marson has been bothered by shoulder soreness periodically in spring training and the regular season. This marks the second DL stint of his season/career as he has appeared in 3 games (0-3) after going on the DL from April 9-24 with a cervical strain.
The Major League roster now consists of 26 players with today's scheduled day/night doubleheader in Kansas City.
