Mariners host peanut controlled games for fans with allergies

First of four Peanut Controlled games at Safeco Field is on April 22

Once again this season, the Seattle Mariners will designate sections of Safeco Field for select games so that individuals and families of those who live with severe peanut allergies can attend games with a reduced risk of exposure to allergens.

The first of the four Peanut Controlled games is Sunday, April 22, as the Mariners take on the Chicago White Sox. Game time is 1:10pm. That is also Aquafina Little League Day and all kids 14 and younger will receive a Mariners drawstring backpack.

The special price for all games is $11 for View Box seats (normally $30). Tickets in the special seating sections can only be purchased online at

The other three peanut controlled dates are:

  • Friday, May 25 vs. Los Angeles Angels, 7:10pm start
  • Thursday, July 26 vs. Kansas City Royals, 7:10pm start
  • Wednesday, August 15 vs. Tampa Bay Rays, 12:40pm start

In the special seating sections (Sections 313, 314, 315), no peanuts or peanut products will be permitted. Only those fans who agree to abide by the peanut ban will be allowed to purchase tickets or be present in the seating sections. Concession stands closest to the seating sections will not sell any food with peanut products as ingredients. These seating sections will be thoroughly cleaned prior to the game to remove as many traces of peanuts as possible.

It should be noted that peanut-controlled does not mean peanut-free. Safeco Field is an open-air ballpark, and peanuts will be present in other areas of the ballpark. Fans with peanut allergies should take all precautions that they customarily take in public places. It is estimated that 12 million Americans have food allergies, three million of them children.
