Mariners place right-handed pitcher Stephen Pryor on 15-day disabled list

Roster move to fill his spot will be announced on Tuesday

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jack Zduriencik announced today that right-handed pitcher Stephen Pryor has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a tear in his right latissimus dorsi muscle.

A roster move to fill Pryor's spot on the Mariners 25-man roster will be announced prior to tomorrow night's 7:10 pm (PT) game versus the Detroit Tigers.

Pryor left yesterday's game with two outs in the top of the 8th inning (after retiring Texas' Nelson Cruz) with discomfort in his right 'lat' muscle. He pitched 1.1 innings, and did not allow a run (2 SO, 1 BB). Pryor underwent further tests today, and was examined by Mariners medical director, Dr. Edward Khalfayan.

Pryor, 23, has appeared in 7 of Seattle's first 14 games this season. He has not allowed a run in 7.1 innings pitched while striking out 7 and allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk.
