Rookie's mark at 14 games after McClendon's successful challenge
SEATTLE -- Mariners rookie center fielder James Jones extended his hitting streak to 14 games in the second inning Saturday night at Safeco Field when an out call at first base was overturned using Major League Baseball's instant-replay procedure.
With two outs and the score knotted at 2, Jones hit a soft ground ball to the left side of the infield. Astros third baseman Matt Dominguez charged, fielded and threw to first. The ball reached first baseman Marc Krauss's mitt as Jones hit the bag, but first-base umpire Tom Hallion ruled Jones out.
