SEATTLE, Wash. - Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves: 
•    Zach Duke, LHP, reports to club.
•    Roenis Elías, placed on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to July 29) with a left triceps strain. 
Duke, 35, was acquired by the Mariners in exchange for Chase De Jong (rhp) and minor leaguer Ryan Costello (inf) yesterday. Duke has gone 3-4 with 12 holds and a 3.62 ERA (15 ER, 37.1 IP) in 45 games with the Twins this season. He has limited left-handed hitters to a .237 average (14x59) with 16 strikeouts and just 2 extra-base hits (2B, 3B) in 2018. Duke has not allowed a home run this season, one of just three AL pitchers to appear in at least 30 games without allowing a homer.  
Duke ranks 10th among active left-handed pitchers in career games (513); his 298 appearances since the start of the 2014 season are fourth-most among lefties. Duke is one of three active pitchers (Oliver Perez & Joe Blanton) with at least 150 relief appearances and 150 starts in his Major League career. He began his career as a starter before moving to the bullpen at the end of 2012. Seattle is the 9th organization he's pitched for in his career, joining Pittsburgh (2002-10), Arizona (2011), Washington (2012-13), Cincinnati (2013), Milwaukee (2014), Chicago-AL (2015-16), St. Louis (2016-17) and Minnesota (2018). In his career in relief, he is 17-14, 3.20 (109 ER, 306.1 IP) in 344 games. Overall, Duke is 64-89 with a 4.28 ERA (629 ER, 1322.0 IP) in 513 games, including 169 starts. 
Elías, 29, has gone 2-0 with a 2.88 ERA (8 ER, 25.0 IP) with 18 strikeouts and 8 walks in 13 games, including 1 start, with the Mariners since being recalled from AAA Tacoma on June 1. The 5-foot-11, 197-pound left-hander made a spot start against San Francisco on July 24, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5 in 3.2 innings pitched. He has worked at least 2.0 innings in 6 of his 12 relief appearances and has held opponents scoreless in 7 of 12 games out of the bullpen. Elías earned the win in his 2018 Mariners debut, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings in the Mariners 4-3, 13-inning win on June 1 vs. Tampa Bay.
Elías was acquired by the Mariners from Boston in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations on April 23. After reporting to AAA Tacoma, he went 2-4 with a 4.94 ERA (17 ER, 31.0 IP) with 27 strikeouts and 12 walks in 7 games (6 starts). Prior to being acquired by Seattle, he was 1-0 with 1 save and a 1.23 ERA (1 ER, 7.1 IP) with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks in 4 games with AAA Pawtucket (Boston). 
The lefty was originally signed by Seattle as a minor league free agent on May 3, 2011 and made his Major League debut with the Mariners on April 3, 2014 at Oakland. Elías was acquired by the Red Sox from the Mariners on Dec. 7, 2015 along with RHP Carson Smith in exchange for LHP Wade Miley and RHP Jonathan Aro. In parts of 4 Major League seasons with the Mariners (2014-15, 2018-c) and Red Sox (2016-17), he is 17-21 with a 4.10 ERA (142 ER, 312.0 IP) with 262 strikeouts and 122 walks in 68 career games (51 starts).
