Mariners add OF Cameron Maybin and RHP Adam Warren to the active roster

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today the following roster moves: 
•    Cameron Maybin, OF, reports to club. 
•    Adam Warren, RHP, reports to club.
•    Chasen Bradford, RHP, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 7/31).
•    Ben Gamel, OF, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 7/31).
Maybin (#10) and Warren (#43) will be in uniform and available for today's (1:10 pm PT) game vs. Houston at Safeco Field.
Maybin, 31, was acquired by the Mariners from Miami in exchange for minor leaguer Bryson Brigman (inf) and International Slot Money yesterday. Maybin hit safely in 47 of 99 games with Miami this season, including 13 multi-hit games and 3 games with 3 hits. He is batting .251 (63x251) with 20 runs scored, 12 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 20 RBI, 32 walks and a team-leading 8 stolen bases. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound outfielder has batted .309 (21x68) in the month of July and has hit safely in 12 of his last 17 games started (7/1-c). The Marlins signed Maybin as a free agent on Feb. 22, 2018. 
Maybin is a 12-year Major League veteran with the Detroit Tigers (2007 & 2016), San Diego Padres (2011-14), Atlanta Braves (2015), Los Angeles Angels (2017), Houston Astros (2017) and Miami Marlins (2008-10 & 2018). He was originally selected by the Tigers in the 1st round (10th overall) of the 2005 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of T.C. Roberson High School (Asheville, NC), where he was named North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year in 2004 and 2005.
Over his 12 Major League seasons, Maybin has hit .255/.323/.369 (859x3373) with 486 runs, 146 doubles, 32 triples, 59 home runs, 307 RBI, 322 walks and 172 stolen bases. In 2017, he tied a career-high with 10 home runs and recorded 33 stolen bases, the 2nd-most of his career, in a season split between the Angels (93 games) and the Astros (21 games). Maybin played in 6 postseason games with the Astros, batting .286 (2x7) with a walk, 2 runs scored and a stolen base. After entering Game 2 of the World Series as a defensive replacement, he singled, stole 2nd base and scored on George Springer's go-ahead home run in the 11th inning. 
Warren, 30 (turns 31 on Aug. 25), was acquired by the Mariners from New York-AL in exchange for International Slot Money on Monday. Warren is 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA (9 ER, 30.0 IP) with 37 strikeouts and 12 walks in 24 relief appearances with the Yankees this season. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound right-hander is averaging 11.10 strikeouts-per-9.0-innings (37 K, 30.0 IP) while allowing only 3 home runs this season. Among American League relievers, he ranks 20th in K/9.0 IP. On April 21, he was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a strained back. Following rehab assignments with AAA Scranton Wilkes-Barre and AA Trenton, he was activated from the DL on June 4. From Opening Day - June 30, he compiled a 1.35 ERA (3 ER, 20.0 IP), striking out 24 and walking 9 in 17 outings.
In parts of 7 Major League seasons with the Yankees (2012-18) and Cubs (2016), Warren is 23-22 with 6 saves and a 3.40 ERA (167 ER, 442.0 IP) with 388 strikeouts and 151 walks in 275 career games, including 21 starts. Since 2014, he has made 65 relief appearances of at least 1.1 scoreless innings pitched, 3rd-most in the Majors over that span behind Yusmerio Petit (74) and Dan Otero (70). During that same span (2014-c), he has recorded a 2.72 ERA (70 ER, 231.2 IP) in 194 relief appearances, 11th-lowest among relievers. 
Warren was traded from the Yankees to the Cubs along with a Player to Be Named Later (inf Brendan Ryan) in exchange for Starlin Castro (inf) on Dec. 8, 2015. He ended up splitting the 2016 season between Chicago-NL and New York-AL after being acquired by the Yankees along with Gleyber Torres (inf), Billy McKinney (of) and Rashad Crawford (of) in exchange for Aroldis Chapman (lhp) on July 25, 2016. The native of Birmingham, AL, was originally selected by New York-AL in the 4th round of the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of North Carolina, where he tied with Scott Bankhead for the highest winning percentage in program history (.889/32-4). 
Bradford, 28 (turns 29 on Aug. 5), has made 34 relief appearances with the Mariners this season, going 5-0 with a 2.70 ERA (12 ER, 40.0 IP) with 31 strikeouts and 8 walks. His 40.0 innings pitched are 3rd-most among Mariners relievers (Edwin Díaz, 53.0, and Juan Nicasio, 40.1). Among American League relievers, Bradford's 2.70 ERA ranks 17th. The 6-foot-1, 230-pound right-hander has issued only 1.80 walks-per-9.0-innings (8 BB, 40.0 IP), tied for 11th-fewest among AL relievers. In 9 outings of at least 1.1 innings pitched, he is 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA (4 ER, 18.2 IP) with 11 strikeouts and 4 walks. He began the season with AAA Tacoma, where he made 1 relief appearance, before being recalled by the Mariners on April 9. 
Bradford was claimed off waivers by Seattle from New York-NL on Jan. 19, 2018. He made his Major League debut with the Mets last season, going 2-0 with a 3.74 ERA (14 ER, 33.2 IP) with 27 strikeouts in 28 relief appearances. With AAA Las Vegas, he was 1-1 with 11 saves and a 4.04 ERA (16 ER, 35.2 IP) with 28 strikeouts in 33 relief appearances. In parts of 2 Major League seasons with the Mets (2017) and Mariners (2018-c), he is 7-0 with a 3.18 ERA (26 ER, 73.2 IP) with 58 strikeouts and 21 walks. The native of Las Vegas, NV, was originally selected by the Mets in the 35th round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Central Florida.
Gamel, 26, has appeared in 72 games with the Mariners this season, batting .290 (58x200) with 26 runs, 10 doubles, 4 triples, 1 home run and 12 RBI. Since May 16, he is batting .338 (48x142) over his last 49 games after beginning the season with a .172 (10x58) average in his first 23 games. He is batting .307 (50x163) against right-handed pitchers, compared to a .216 (8x37) mark vs. lefties. The left-handed-hitting outfielder was placed on the 10-day disabled list on March 28 (retro to 3/26) with a strained left oblique. He appeared in 10 games on a rehab assignment between High-A Modesto (5 G) and AAA Tacoma (5 G) before being activated from the DL on April 18. 
In parts of 3 Major League seasons with New York-AL (2016) and Seattle (2016-c), Gamel is a career .273 (207x757) hitter with 39 doubles, 9 triples, 13 home runs and 76 RBI in 239 career games. The native of Neptune Beach, Fla., was acquired by the Mariners from the Yankees on Aug. 31, 2016 in exchange for RHP Jio Orozco and RHP Juan De Paula. He made his Major League debut with the Yankees on May 6 vs. Boston. Gamel was selected by New York-AL in the 10th round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Bishop Kenney (FL) High School.
