Mariners commemorate 35th Anniversary in 2012

Seattle Mariners will commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the founding of the franchise throughout the 2012 season.

The season-long celebration will welcome back many former Mariners to Seattle for special appearances and promotions at Safeco Field. Details of the special events will be announced before the start of the season.

A logo has been created to commemorate the 35th Anniversary. The background is navy blue with highlights of Northwest Green. The number 35 is in the same block characters used on players’ uniforms. A patch with the logo will be worn on the right sleeve of Mariners home and road jerseys during the 2012 season.

Other patches the Mariners have worn on their uniforms have included a tribute to Dave Niehaus (2011), the team’s 30th Anniversary (2007), the All-Star Game (2001) and an MLB-wide tribute to the Negro Leagues in 1985.

The Mariners also announced the Northwest Green billed caps will be worn on home Mondays and Fridays next season with the Northwest Green alternate jerseys. The dark navy tops will continue to be an alternate option for road games. The design has been tweaked this year to read “Seattle” instead of “Mariners” on the front. Jerseys with the 35th Anniversary patch, the updated alternate road jersey, Northwest Green alternate home jersey and the green billed caps are all available at Mariners Team Stores.
