Mariners reinstate INF Kyle Seager from paternity list

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced the following roster moves Thursday: · Kyle Seager, INF, reinstated from the paternity list. · Zach Vincej, INF, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 8/1). Seager (#15) will be in uniform and available for Thursday's (7:10 pm PT) game vs. the Toronto Blue Jays at Safeco Field.

·         Kyle Seager, INF, reinstated from the paternity list.
·         Zach Vincej, INF, optioned to AAA Tacoma (post-game 8/1).
Seager (#15) will be in uniform and available for Thursday's (7:10 pm PT) game vs. the Toronto Blue Jays at Safeco Field.
Seager, 30, was placed on the Paternity List on July 30. He is batting .228 (91x400) with 45 runs, 24 doubles, 16 home runs, 57 RBI, 4 HBP and 25 walks in 104 games with the Mariners this season. He leads the club in extra-base hits (40), while ranking 2nd in doubles and 3rd in RBI. On April 7 at Minnesota, he recorded his 1,000th career hit, becoming 1 of 9 players to collect at least 1,000 hits with the Mariners.
Seager, the Mariners 3rd round selection in the 2009 MLB First-Year Player Draft, made his debut with the club in 2011. In 8 seasons in a Mariners uniform, he has amassed 237 doubles, 169 home runs, 582 RBI and 385 walks while batting .260 (1086x4179) with a .327 on-base percentage and a .443 slugging mark (.770 OPS) in 1,104 career games. He ranks among the top-10 all-time club leaders in games played (9th), runs scored (9th), hits (6th), doubles (4th), home runs (5th), RBI (8th), walks (8th), on-base percentage (9th), slugging percentage (8th), OPS (9th) and extra-base hits (5th, 417).
Vincej ("VINCE-ee"), 27, appeared in 1 game with the Mariners after being selected from AAA Tacoma on July 30. He went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI yesterday vs. Houston. Prior to his selection, he hit .236 (70x296) with 34 runs, 9 doubles, 2 triples, 6 home runs and 44 RBI in 84 games with AAA Tacoma. He was claimed off waivers by Seattle from Cincinnati on Nov. 3, 2017 and outrighted to Tacoma on Nov. 11.
Vincej made his Major League debut with the Reds in 2017, appearing in 9 games. In parts of 7 minor league seasons with the Mariners (2018-c) and Reds (2012-17), he is a career .267 (616x2307) hitter with 304 runs, 115 doubles, 15 triples, 22 home runs, 239 RBI and 52 stolen bases in 662 career games. The native of San Diego, Calif., was selected by Cincinnati in the 37th round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Pepperdine University. He was the recipient of the Brooks Wallace Award, honoring the nation's top collegiate shortstop, as a junior in 2012.
