Mariners trade OF Eric Filia to Boston Red Sox

Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto today announced that outfielder Eric Filia is the player to be named later from the April 23 trade with the Boston Red Sox. The Mariners acquired left-handed pitcher Roenis Elias from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Filia.

The Mariners acquired left-handed pitcher Roenis Elias from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Filia.
Filia, 25, began the season with Double-A Arkansas on May 30. He recorded 5 multi-hit contest in 13 games with the Travelers, batting .426 (23x54) with 10 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 14 RBI and 9 walks. Filia was originally selected by Seattle out of UCLA in the 20th round of the 2016 MLB First-Year Player Draft. In 3 minor league seasons with the Mariners, he hit .343 (272x792) with 117 runs scored, 50 doubles, 6 triples, 10 home runs, 119 RBI, 114 walks and 19 stolen bases.
