The 2019 Seattle Mariners Caravan hits the road on Monday, January 7, with stops along the I-5 corridor in Longview, Portland, Hillsboro, Vancouver, Washington, Blaine and Vancouver, B.C.
At various stops on the Caravan, current, former and future Seattle Mariners players, broadcasters and the Moose host assemblies for elementary school students, meet Boys & Girls Club members, visit hospitals and, in some communities, host free public autograph and photo sessions.
After brief visits to Mariners Radio Network affiliate stations KELA in Centralia and KLOG in Kelso, the Caravan holds the first public event of the tour with a free public autograph session at Lower Columbia College, Myklebust Gymnasium in Longview, featuring right-handed relief pitcher Chasen Bradford and broadcasters Aaron Goldsmith and Ryan Rowland-Smith.
Bradford began the 2018 season with the Tacoma Rainiers. He was called up on April 9 and appeared in 46 games for the Mariners posting a 5-0 record in 53.2 innings.
Aaron Goldsmith is entering his seventh season as a member of the Mariners broadcast team. In addition to his play-by-play duties, Aaron is host of the Hot Stove Show, Cactus League Report, Sunday Mariners Magazine pregame program and The Wheelhouse podcast with Mariners General Manager Jerry Dipoto. Aaron also broadcasts Major League Baseball, college football and basketball on Fox Network and FS1.
Former Mariners pitcher Ryan Rowland-Smith makes occasional appearances as an analyst on Mariners radio and TV broadcasts and is a regular co-host of ROOT SPORTS Northwest Mariners pregame and postgame programs. The native Australian became a fan favorite during his four-year stint with the Mariners (2007-2010) due to his easy-going, engaging personality. Rowland-Smith was a member of the 2004 Australian National Baseball team that won a silver medal in the Olympics.
The three-week annual Mariners Caravan will make stops in 22 communities in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia. Week 2 stops include Yakima, Wenatchee, Spokane, Walla Walla, Tri-Cities and Post Falls, Idaho. A schedule of public appearances for the Caravan is available at Mariners.com/Caravan.
