The Seattle Mariners open the 2022 season at T-Mobile Park on Friday, April 15, with Opening Day against the Houston Astros. Tickets for the game are sold out, but there are still tickets for the remaining eight games in the Opening Homestand.

Game time on Opening Day, which is also Jackie Robinson Day, is 6:42pm. All gates will open at 4:40pm. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to pass through security screening. All fans will receive 2022 Season magnetic schedules upon arrival.

Pregame Program

The pregame program begins at 6:00pm and will be carried live on ROOT SPORTS.

Ceremonial First Pitch & National Anthem

Throwing out the ceremonial first pitch will be Ichiro Suzuki, who is to be inducted into the Mariners Hall of Fame in August. The National Anthem will be performed by Ayron Jones, rising Seattle guitarist, singer and songwriter. Jones was nominated for the 2022 Best New Rock Artist iHeartRadio Music Award.

Jackie Robinson Day

Mariners Opening Day is the 75th Anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking baseball’s color barrier when he played his first Major League game with the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Mariners will join teams around the league in tribute to the trail blazer and civil rights champion. Mariners and Astros players, managers, coaches and on-field personnel will all wear “Dodger Blue” 42 numbers on their Nike jerseys in Jackie’s honor.

Run Around the Bases

During the pregame ceremony, the traditional ceremonial first run around the bases by a Make-A-Wish® child will feature 12-year old Uriah Holmes, who is from Auburn, WA. Uriah lives with sickle cell disease, an inherited red blood cell disorder that can cause severe pain, anemia, organ damage and infections. Uriah loves electronics, especially her MacBook and PS5. Her favorite subject in school is math and she likes to play baseball, soccer, football, a run.

This is the 23rd consecutive year a Make-A-Wish child has performed the ceremonial first run around the bases on Mariners Opening Day. Since becoming the Mariners naming rights partner in 2019, T-Mobile has donated $10,000 to Make-A-Wish every Opening Day, and is proud to do so again this year.

Hometown All-Stars

The Mariners are inaugurating a new program, Hometown All-Stars to recognize community members who have been instrumental in helping make the Puget Sound area a better place to live, work and play. The first Hometown All-Star to be recognized is Bookie Gates, Garfield High School and Washington State University graduate and stand-out athlete, who founded Baseball Beyond Borders, a program that helps young men and women from under-resourced communities to play baseball and softball, provides them with life skills training, and prepares them for college and careers.

Salute to Those Who Serve, Presented by T-Mobile

Throughout the 2022 season, the Mariners will recognize the service of members of the U.S. military forces, presented by T-Mobile. On Opening Day, the honoree will be US Navy Chief Petty Officer Matthew Lake. Lake has served seven deployments since July 2005. He currently serves aboard the USS Carl Vinson, stationed at Naval Base Kitsap. Lake is the recipient of a Navy Commendation Medal and five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. Earlier this year, he assisted sailors who were seriously injured when a naval aircraft crashed on the Vinson flight deck, despite suffering a concussion and injuries to his chest, knee and wrist, earning praise for representing “our nation with the utmost amount of courage and selflessness, demonstrated in his actions” during the crash response, and every day.

Moment of Silence

Prior to the National Anthem, there will be a moment of silence in remembrance of members of the Mariners family and Major League Baseball who have been lost over the past year, including Julio Cruz and Ricky Lee Nelson, former Bullpen Coach Brian DeLunas, Gene Clines who had a nine-year professional playing career and coached for the Mariners from 1989-1992, and Ray Fosse, the All-Star, Gold Glover and World Series Champion, who was a member of the Mariners inaugural team in 1977.

Player Award

During the pregame program, the Mariners will present the 2021 American League Cy Young Award to pitcher Robbie Ray. With a 2.84 ERA over 193.3 innings, including a league-high 248 strikeouts, Ray was one of baseball's most dominant pitchers last year.

T-Mobile Customer Entry

T-Mobile customers have a dedicated ballpark entry next to The T-Mobile ‘Pen Gate, located on Royal Brougham between the Left Field and Center Field Gates. Customers can use their mobile phones to validate T-Mobile as their wireless provider before scanning their digital tickets at the members-only entrance.

Bag & Outside Food Policy:

• Clear plastic or vinyl bags no larger than 12” x 6” x 12” are permitted. One gallon clear plastic zip-top bags are also allowed.
• Security screeners must be able to see inside and identify items in each bag. Items may not be used to obscure the view of bag contents, including but not limited to non-clear bags, pouches, etc. Bags with interior contents obscured from view will not allowed inside the ballpark.
• Small clutch bags no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” are permitted. (Do not have to be clear.)
• Outside food is permitted in single-serving sizes.
• Sealed, clear plastic water bottles up to 32oz, baby bottles, beverages related to medical needs, and unopened, soft-sided single serve containers like juice boxes are permitted.

 Not Permitted:

• Backpacks, multi-compartment bags, duffle bags and purses larger than 4.5” x 6.5”.
• Exceptions will be made for medical needs and single compartment diapers bags for parents with small children.
