Mariners announce three additional international signings

SEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle Mariners Director of International Amateur Scouting Frankie Thon Jr. today announced the following international signings:

Anderson Guevara, RHP, Venezuela; Luis Martinez, RHP, Venezuela; Eduardo Tovar, RHP, Venezuela

Below is a brief description from Thon Jr. on the signings:

Guevara, 18, is a 5-foot-10 right-handed pitcher with a strong frame. He has an aggressive, up-tempo delivery with a fast arm. His current velocity ranges from the high 80s to low 90s with a heavy look to the fastball. He also flashes an above-average curveball.

Martinez, 17, is a 5-foot-11 right-handed pitcher. He was born and raised in Venezuela and currently resides in Colombia. He was recently converted from an outfielder to a pitcher. He is an all-around athlete with a compact and efficient delivery, flashing an above-average curveball with a chance to be a versatile pitcher.

Tovar, 18, is a 6-foot right-handed pitcher. He has a smooth and balanced delivery and his current velocity sits in the high 80s. He boasts a curveball and changeup and is an above-average strike thrower with all the makings to be a potential starting pitcher.
