Event Retail Sales Associate

Job Title: Event Retail Sales Associate
Department: Merchandising
Reports To: Safeco Team Store Manager or Manager, Souvenirs
Status: Part-time, Seasonal, Nonexempt

Primary Objective:  Contribute to revenue and sales goals by proactively assisting guests and providing courteous and friendly service to all guests.

Essential Functions:

  • Approach guests with a friendly and helpful demeanor; assist them with merchandise and make merchandise recommendations when asked.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current merchandise and promotions; respond to guest questions regarding merchandise and general ballpark information.
  • Complete guest checkout transactions on store's POS/computer system.
  • Maintain a clean and organized store environment; proactively organize and straighten displayed merchandise.
  • Use provided tools such as step stools and portable display racks to set up displays or arrange merchandise for sales promotions as assigned. Use provided tools such as a ladder or merchandise grabber to access out-of-reach items for guests.
  • Balance cash register and assist with inventory as assigned, including unloading and moving boxes and other containers of merchandise.
  • Attend all mandatory Team Member meetings and training.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Equivalent, relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education if approved by management.
  • A minimum of 6 months of previous retail guest service experience required.

Parking Cashier

Job Title: Parking Cashier
Department: Ticketing & Parking Operations
Reports To: Parking Supervisor

Primary Objective:  Provide efficient and friendly service to guests entering parking areas. 

Essential Functions:

  • Stand and/or walk in assigned areas and greet incoming guests with a friendly and professional demeanor. Includes accessing areas of the parking garage using concrete stairs.
  • Recognize and properly direct guests with parking passes.
  • Complete cash and credit transactions for guests purchasing parking.
  • Responsibly handle cash; total and balance earnings with number of passes sold at end of shift.
  • Operate handheld credit card reader and instruct guests on any actions needed to complete transactions.
  • Communicate incoming traffic and other relevant information with team via two-way radio. Must also be able to hear and comprehend two-way radio communication to respond to any issues in assigned areas.
  • Attend all mandatory Team Member meetings and training.

Ticketing Associate

Primary Objective:  Sell and distribute tickets for baseball games and ticketed events. Handle guests' ticket needs promptly and courteously.

Essential Functions:

  • Interact with walk-up guests with friendly and helpful demeanor. Sell single-game tickets and distribute will call tickets.
  • Accurately complete transactions using Point of Sale system and other required hardware or software.
  • Collect and handle cash responsibly; balance cash register and inventory as required.
  • Direct guests toward ballpark entrance or answer any questions following ticket purchase.
  • Attend all mandatory Team Member meetings and training.

Education and Experience:

  • Prior experience in a customer-driven environment preferred.
  • Previous cash-handling experience preferred.

Event Security

Job Title: Event Security 
Department: Security
Reports To: Event Security Supervisor
Status: Part-Time, Nonexempt

Primary Objective:  Provide a safe environment for guests, participants and employees, and contribute to exceptional experiences for all by diligently, respectfully and efficiently conducting security screening and monitoring.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide prompt, friendly and courteous customer service by responding to guests' questions or concerns and working with guests to understand and comply with Safeco Field security policies.
  • Stand in assigned area to complete security screenings, bag checks, or metal detector monitoring for duration of baseball game or event and until released by a supervisor.
  • Assist in security setup including setting up tables, stanchions, barricades and walk-through metal detectors. This requires moving up to 30 lbs occasionally
  • Bend, stretch, push and/or pull up to 10 lbs repeatedly to check bags and move bags through security screening.
  • Stand, walk, and occasionally walk up and down stairs in order to complete job assignments.
  • Use functional near vision to closely review contents of bags to ensure no prohibited items are being brought into the ballpark.
  • Use security wand to efficiently screen individual guests as needed.
  • Use functional near vision to closely review badges and credentials of authorized personnel to control and monitor access to restricted back-of-house areas in and around the ballpark.
  • Promptly and effectively communicate all safety and security concerns seen in and around the ballpark using two-way radio. Must also be able to hear and comprehend two-way radio communication to monitor or address security concerns in assigned area.

Host

Job Title: Host (Seating Areas, Premium Areas, Gates, Elevator and Escalator, or Guest Experience*)
Department: Ballpark Operations
Status: Part-time, Nonexempt

Primary Objective:  Contribute to exceptional experiences for all guests by providing courteous directions and service to guests.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide prompt, friendly and courteous guest service in accordance with Mariner Way standards to provide guests with an exceptional game or event experience.
  • Greet guests with a positive, professional and helpful demeanor. Offer assistance including directions, maps, guides, game schedules, and other information as necessary.
  • May scan tickets upon guest arrival or review guests' tickets for valid date and seat/suite location.
  • Clearly communicate directions to guests and assist them in identifying their seats and escorting them up and down stairs to assigned seating areas, as needed.
  • Control access to restricted areas such as Field Level, Press Level, Broadcast Center, Club and Suite Levels as assigned.
  • May assist special needs and mobility impaired guests, including providing wheelchair escorts. Must be able to safely and effectively push/restrain up to 300 lbs as necessary to assist guest in a wheelchair up or down inclined ramps.
  • Visually monitor assigned area at all times and be on constant watch for any injuries that may result from a foul ball, a home run ball, a slip or fall, etc.
  • Clearly communicate location and other relevant information regarding intoxicated or unruly guests; any situation requiring medical attention; or situations requiring clean-up to the appropriate department via pager.
  • May walk up or down the aisles and/or stairs in assigned area between innings.
  • Stand and/or walk for the duration of baseball game or event in assigned section.
  • Attend all mandatory Team Member meetings and training.

Housekeeping Attendant

Job Title: Housekeeping Attendant         
Department: Housekeeping
Reports To: Manager, Housekeeping
Status: Part-time, Nonexempt

Primary Objective: Perform quality and timely housekeeping tasks in order to maintain a safe, clean and friendly environment for guests and employees.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform assigned housekeeping and janitorial tasks including but not limited to cleaning restrooms, floors, seating areas, and other common spaces around the ballpark.
  • Operate manual and power equipment and tools such as vacuums, carpet cleaners, brooms, mops and squeegees.
  • Operate high power pressure washer and blowers.
  • Must be able to safely move carts, equipment, tools, and supplies throughout the ballpark. Includes pushing, pulling, kneeling, stooping, bending, and walking for the duration of shifts.
  • Identify safety hazards and promptly address them.
  • Promptly respond to and resolve housekeeping requests or issues from guests or internal customers.
  • Ensure assigned areas are clean and stocked with equipment and supplies.
  • Operate as part of a team and support Engineering, Maintenance, and Ground Crew repair projects as assigned.
  • Maintain custodial product and material stock levels.

Parking Attendant

Primary Objective:  Provide efficient and friendly service to guests entering parking areas. 

Essential Functions:

  • Stand, walk, and climb stairs for duration of shift to quickly and safely direct incoming vehicles to their designated spaces in the parking garage.
  • Use provided wands, flags, or other tools to direct guests.
  • Monitor and report vehicle occupancy and other relevant information via two-way radio. Must also be able to hear and comprehend two-way radio communication to respond to any issues in assigned areas.
  • Enforce proper driving and safety procedures inside the parking garage.
  • Offer assistance and guidance to guests on where to enter the ballpark after exiting the parking garage.
  • Attend all mandatory Team Member meetings and training.

Primary Objective:  Contribute to guests' exceptional experiences at the ballpark by distributing promotional items at assigned locations.

Essential Functions:

  • Organize and distribute promotional items at gates and select areas throughout the ballpark.
  • Welcome guests to the ballpark with energy, excitement and a warm, friendly demeanor.
  • Adhere to rules regarding promotions given to specific groups.
  • Move boxes of promotional materials and other objects up to 35 lbs.
  • Attend all mandatory Team Member meetings and training.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a customer-driven environment preferred.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age on first day of work.
