Ex-Major League pitcher Miller found dead

Right-hander, 35, played for the Blue Jays, Marlins, Giants and Dodgers

Former Major League pitcher Justin Miller was found dead on Wednesday night, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Miller, 35, pitched for four teams over seven big league seasons, most recently for the Dodgers in 2010.

A spokesman from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office told the Times that Miller's body was found shortly after 10:30 p.m., but did not say where. A cause of death has not been determined, and an investigation is ongoing.

Miller, a Palm Harbor, Fla., resident, founded Justin Miller's Legacy Baseball/Softball and Personal Training last year, according to the Times. His wife, Jessica Miller, told the paper that her husband loved coaching and spending time with the couple's two sons, 18-year-old Joseph and 7-year-old Johnnie. She described his death as "sudden" but said she did not know the cause.

Miller was a fifth-round pick of the Rockies in the 1997 First-Year Player Draft out of Los Angeles Harbor College. The right-hander made his Major League debut with the Blue Jays in 2002 and also played for the Marlins, Giants and Dodgers. Standing out in part because of his colorful collection of tattoos, Miller appeared in 216 career games, including 33 starts, and went 24-14 with a 4.82 ERA.

His professional career ended during the 2011 season, which he split between the Triple-A affiliates of the Mariners, Rangers and Dodgers.
