Bour considered day to day with back spasms

MIAMI -- For the second straight game, the Marlins' biggest home run threat was not in the starting lineup.

continues to get treatment for back spasms, although the Marlins were hopeful before Sunday's 3-0 win over the Rockies that he could possibly be available to participate in some capacity -- if needed -- in the series finale at Marlins Park.

In 25 games, Bour has a slash line of .250/.357/.417 with four home runs and 13 RBIs.

The left-handed-hitting first baseman felt some discomfort while taking batting practice on Saturday night, and he was scratched from the lineup.

"I felt it in the second-to-last round of BP taking some swings," Bour said on Sunday morning. "It got a little bit tight in that back area. So we shut it down, and I've been getting treatment on it."

Bour also dealt with mild back spasms in Spring Training, but the discomfort this time, he says, is in a different area.

The Marlins appear confident Bour's condition isn't too serious.

"He's day to day," manager Don Mattingly said. "He's a little bit sore right now."

The past two seasons, Bour has missed substantial time due to injuries. In 2016, he sustained a high right ankle sprain, and last year he dealt with a strained left oblique.

"This is different," Mattingly said. "He had a high ankle sprain, and those things take a while to heal. Last year, it took a while. This is one we feel like will be day to day. Obviously, you never know. But it seems more in a spot where it is more of a muscle. It's not like it's any kind of tear or sprain, or anything like that."

• Catcher J.T. Realmuto started at first base in place of Bour, and caught left-hander .

"At first, when I was doing the lineup and [Realmuto] wasn't in it, it didn't look very good with Martin out today and J.B. out," Mattingly said. "So we thought J.T. being at first base gives us a better look."
