Marlins alumni come together to Play Ball in South Florida

The Miami Marlins will host four Play Ball events across the South Florida community next week featuring Marlins Alumni, beginning on Monday.

The Miami Marlins will host four Play Ball events across the South Florida community next week featuring Marlins Alumni, beginning on Monday. The four events are centered around the MLB initiative of Play Ball, which encourages participation in all forms of baseball among all ages, with a special focus on youth.
 
The schedule of events is as follows (appearances are subject to change):
 
Monday, June 18, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Gwen Cherry Park (7090 NW 22 AVE, Miami, FL)
Antonio Alfonseca and approximately 500 kids
 
Tuesday, June 19, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Tamiami Park (11201 SW 24 ST, Miami, FL)
Alfredo Amezaga and approximately 500 kids
 
Thursday, June 21, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Goulds Park (11350 SW 216 ST, Miami, FL)
Placido Polanco and approximately 500 kids
 
Friday, June 22, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Flamingo Park (1900 NW 122 TER, Pembroke Pines, FL)
Charles Johnson, Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis, and approximately 300 kids
 
Planned activities include the Pitch, Hit, and Run competition, Jr. Home Run Derby, kickball and skills stations. The events will also feature giveaways, a DJ and an appearance by Billy The Marlin.
 
Marlins Alumni recently gathered at Marlins Park as part of the franchise's 25th Anniversary Weekend, which hosted a pregame ceremony honoring the alumni members in attendance and an Alumni Softball Game, presented by Ciroc. Fans were able to interact with their favorite former Marlins at autograph and selfie stations.
