Marlins announce Hispanic Heritage Month activities

With Hispanic Heritage Month around the corner, the Miami Marlins today announced planned activities and events taking place during the next few weeks. 

•   Martín Prado to assist with Community Distribution at Roberto Clemente Park
o   In the spirit of Roberto Clemente's legacy, the Marlins are partnering with Feeding South Florida to host a community distribution at Roberto Clemente Park (101 NW 34 ST, Miami, FL, 33127) in Wynwood on Wednesday, September 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Marlins infielder Martín Prado will be in attendance.

•   Marlins Roberto Clemente Award Nominee Recognition
o   Major League Baseball is celebrating Roberto Clemente Day on Wednesday, September 5, and the Marlins will recognize the club's 2018 Roberto Clemente Award nominee in a pregame ceremony.

•   #Comunidad305 Night
o   The Marlins are celebrating the diverse culture of Miami with the first ever #Comunidad305 Night on Saturday, September 22. Fans who purchase the ticket package at Marlins.com/Comunidad will receive an exclusive #Comunidad305 T-shirt featuring their country's flag and colors (countries available: Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and Venezuela). Prior to the game, the Marlins will present a check for more than $45,000 to the benefitting charities from the 2018 Heritage Celebrations. There will be a postgame party at The 5th Base presented by Corona Light, with a concert featuring GioBeta - Tribute to Marc Anthony.

•   "Ponle Acento"
o   Also on Saturday, September 22, Marlins players and coaches will wear a "Ponle Acento" T-shirt during batting practice as part of the league-wide initiative. Major League Baseball launched the "Ponle Acento" ("Put an Accent on It") campaign in 2016 to highlight the distinctive mark that Hispanic and Latino players and fans leave on the game.

•   Mexican Heritage Celebration
o   The Marlins will conclude their home slate of the 2018 season with Mexican Heritage Day at Marlins Park on Sunday, September 23. Fans who purchase the ticket package at Marlins.com/Mexico will receive an exclusive Mexican heritage jersey. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket package will support the Mexican American Council.
