Marlins announce Minor League award winners

The Miami Marlins today named Batavia outfielder Stone Garrett and Miami left-handed starter Adam Conley as the organization's Player and Pitcher of the Year. The announcement was made by Marlins President of Baseball Operations Michael Hill.

Garrett batted .297 (66x222) in 58 games for the Muckdogs this season, finishing eighth in the New York-Penn League in batting. He led the league in home runs (11), RBI (46), slugging percentage (.581) and OPS (.933), while also finishing third in triples (6) and tied for seventh in doubles (18). He finished the season ranked third among Marlins' Minor Leaguers in batting. He had a season-long 12-game hitting streak from July 24-August 6, during which he batted .438 (21x48) with 10 runs scored, five doubles, a triple, three home runs and 12 RBI. The Muckdogs went 9-3 in that time.

Garrett was named the MiLB.com NYPL Player of the Month for August, when he batted .312 (24x77) with 15 runs scored, nine doubles, a triple, five home runs, and 21 RBI. He was also named to the NYPL All-Star Game and produced the North squad's only multi-hit game, going 2x2 with a run, a double, and a walk in a 4-2 victory. The Sugar Land, Texas native was Miami's eighth-round pick out of George Ranch High School (TX) in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, and debuted with 40 games for the GCL Marlins last season.

Conley went 9-3 with a 2.52 ERA (107.0 ip/30 er) in 18 starts (19 appearances) for the Zephyrs this season, earning All-Pacific Coast League Team honors after receiving more votes than any other left-handed starter. He was selected to start the Triple-A All-Star Game for the PCL, but missed the game due to his second call-up to the Major League club.

He led the PCL in ERA for much of the season, but fell below the minimum qualifiers after being recalled to Miami for a third time on August 1, remaining with the parent Club since. He was also a PCL post-season All-Star, and was the PCL Pitcher of the Week for June 29-July 5, going 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA (13.0/1) in two starts, striking out 14 and allowing just five hits.

Conley was a second-round selection of the Marlins in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of Washington State University. He made his MLB debut on June 10 this season and is 4-1, 4.22 (49.0/23) in eight starts (12 appearances), including a 3-0, 3.38 mark with 23 strikeouts over his last four starts entering tonight's game.
