JUPITER, Fla. -- The Marlins will be at full strength on Friday, with the start of full-squad workouts at the Roger Dean Stadium complex.
After taking physicals in the morning, the entire roster, which currently has 63 players, will take the field at 1 p.m. ET. Workouts on the backfield are open to the public.
"It will be good to get everybody here," manager Don Mattingly said. "You'll be able to start blending in your defenses. You want to start getting that routine going."
Pitchers and catchers have been working since Spring Training opened on Tuesday.
In recent days, a number of position players have already done some training on the complex. Second baseman Dee Gordon, for instance, was practicing his bunting, and several veterans, including and , took batting practice on the field.
"With these complexes, you'll see more guys coming in early, and being able to hit, and things like that," Mattingly said. "The same thing with the pitchers, guys were down early. Quite honestly, this is a pretty good place to live. So a lot of guys are in the area. It's kind of a good thing that guys are around all the time."
Worth noting
• The transition at first base has begun for catcher J.T. Realmuto. Thursday was the first day Realmuto got introduced to first base. After pitchers and catchers drills in the morning, Realmuto and outfielder , a non-roster invitee, got introduced to the basics of first base with infield instructor Perry Hill. Neither has ever played first, and are getting acclimated to increase their flexibility.
, the brother of Phillies right-hander , is also learning a new position. Primarily a shortstop throughout his Minor League career, Nola may have a future as a catcher. He is expected to start the season behind the plate at Double-A Jacksonville.
