Nimmo day to day with right pinkie injury
NEW YORK -- A day after he was hit by a pitch for the 12th time this season, Brandon Nimmo on Monday underwent an MRI on his right pinkie finger, which was negative. The Mets outfielder is listed as day to day.
A burgeoning All-Star candidate, Nimmo was hit by two Rich Hill pitches in Sunday's game. The first was a 70-mph curveball that caused no long-term harm. The second was an 87-mph cutter that sent Nimmo to the ground in pain. After a lengthy discussion with trainer Brian Chicklo and manager Mickey Callaway, Nimmo remained in the game, but he exited an inning and a half later after testing his grip strength in the clubhouse.
The club also recalled right-hander Tyler Bashlor from Double-A Binghamton and optioned Chris Flexen to Triple-A Las Vegas.
