Rain forces cancellation of Mets-Astros game

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Heavy rains in central Florida forced the cancellation of Thursday's scheduled Grapefruit League game between the Astros and Mets at Osceola County Stadium. The game will not be made up.

The Astros and Mets did manage to play a few innings of a "B" game earlier in the day on the back fields, finishing just as the skies opened up.

Scott Feldman, Brad Peacock and Raul Valdes were among the pitchers who got on the mound for the Astros in the B game. Peacock had originally been scheduled to start the main game, but threw two innings in relief.

Fans who bought tickets at the Osceola County box office can receive tickets for another game at the box office. Those who purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will receive a refund on their credit card or through their method of purchase.

The Astros will play the Nationals at 12:05 p.m. CT on Friday in Viera, Fla., in a game that can be heard on Gameday Audio. The Mets return to Port St. Lucie on Friday to face the Cardinals at 1:10 p.m. ET on MLB.TV.
