PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Noah Syndergaard is adding Marvel's official stamp of approval to his Thor image. The Mets announced Sunday that they have teamed up with the entertainment company to create a Syndergaard Thor bobblehead, which the club will give away to the first 15,000 fans through Citi Field's gates on July 22.
"It was pretty awesome when I saw myself as a Thor bobblehead for the first time," Syndergaard said. "I'm thrilled that many of our fans will be able to take this home and extremely honored that Marvel decided to work with us on this project."
The Mets plan to release an image of the bobblehead on Monday.

This is not Syndergaard's first brush with becoming real-life Thor, the hammer-wielding god with roots in Norse mythology. The nickname first rose to prominence when Syndergaard, as a Minor Leaguer, tweeted a photo of himself dressed up as Thor for Halloween. He has since walked around Times Square in full costume for an SNY promotion and dressed up as a Viking on an episode of the sitcom "Kevin Can Wait." Syndergaard also regularly tweets out references to the character.
The bobblehead should create quite a stir at Citi Field. Last year, the Mets' "Syndergaarden Gnome" day brought thousands of fans to Citi hours before the game's scheduled first pitch.
