Mets name Haeda Mihaltses Executive Director, External Affairs

The New York Mets today named Haeda Mihaltses to the newly created position of Executive Director, External Affairs. Mihaltses will be the organization's main liaison with city, state and federal officials and oversee relations with community stakeholders. She will join the franchise Monday, March 3.

Mihaltses spent 12 years in former New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's administration as Director, Intergovernmental Affairs and as a key member of the Mayor's senior executive management team. She coordinated the City's relationship with the Federal government, New York State government and City government.

Appointed by Mayor Bloomberg to oversee the City's Hurricane Sandy relief effort on Staten Island, the New York native and Queens resident spent three months on Staten Island coordinating overall community recovery including debris removal, housing, food and water distribution and small business services.

Prior to the Mayor's Office, Mihaltses spent 15 years with the New York City Council's Finance Division, in a variety of roles ultimately serving as Director where she successfully led negotiations for adopting the budget for the City.

Mihaltses also serves on the Queens Borough Public Library's Board of Trustees and is the Board Chairperson at St. Michael's Home for the Elderly in Yonkers, and a National Board Member of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Ladies Philoptochos Society.

Mihaltses graduated from Fordham University with a Masters in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Public Administration and a Bachelors of Arts in Economics.

Mihaltses and her husband George reside in Bayside, Queens.
