Mets name Jared Banner, Executive Director, Player Development

The New York Mets announced today that the club named Jared Banner, Executive Director, Player Development and promoted Ian Levin to Senior Director, Baseball Operations.

FLUSHING, N.Y., December 7, 2018 -- The New York Mets announced today that the club named Jared Banner, Executive Director, Player Development and promoted Ian Levin to Senior Director, Baseball Operations.
"I'm excited to continue to invest in the front office with personnel that have a championship pedigree," Mets General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen said. "We are looking to build the organization to achieve consistent success by incorporating new members and promoting from within."
Banner, 32, will oversee the Mets minor league system. He had served as the Red Sox Vice President, Player Personnel for the last two years where he oversaw scouting of professional players in international leagues in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Mexico and others. The Brooklyn, NY native was Boston's Director, Player Personnel in 2016. Banner first joined the club in 2007 as a fellow in the baseball operations department. He was the Assistant, Player Development for Boston from 2008-2009 and the Assistant, Amateur Scouting from 2009-2010. Banner worked as the Coordinator, Amateur Scouting from 2010-2012 before becoming the Assistant Director, Player Personnel from 2013-2015. The Amherst College graduate played four years of varsity baseball as an outfielder and was the team captain in 2007.
Levin, 34, who served as the Mets Director, Player Development for the last two years, will have his role expanded to include analytics, player development and health and performance.
He has worked for the Mets since 2005, beginning as a Media Relations intern. He was a Baseball Operations intern in 2006 before serving as the Coordinator of Amateur Scouting from 2007-2012. Levin later worked as the Manager of Baseball Analytics from 2013-2014 before becoming the Director of Minor League Operations from 2015-2016.
