Mets sign Buddy Carlyle to a minor league contract

FLUSHING, N.Y., January 5, 2015 - The New York Mets today announced the club has signed righthanded pitcher Buddy Carlyle to a minor league contract with an invitation to major league Spring Training.

Carlyle, 37, went 1-1 with a 1.45 ERA (five earned runs/31.0 innings) over 27 games during three separate stints with the Mets in 2014. He ranked sixth among NL pitchers in ERA (minimum 30.0 innings) and was unscored upon in 21 of his 27 outings.

During his eight seasons in the majors, Carlyle is 12-13 with a 5.13 ERA (162 earned runs/284.1 innings) in 139 games, 27 starts with the Padres, Dodgers, Braves, Yankees and Mets.
