Mets sign infielder/outfielder Matt Clark

FLUSHING, N.Y., January 31, 2014 - The New York Mets today announced the club signed infielder/outfielder Matt Clark to a minor league contract with an invite to major league Spring Training.

Clark, 27, spent last year playing professionally in Japan with the Chunichi Dragons. The native of West Covina, CA, who bats lefthanded and throws righthanded, hit .238 (97-407) with 25 home runs and 70 RBI in 132 games for the Dragons.

Originally drafted by San Diego in the 12th round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, Clark hit .282 (577-2048) with 102 home runs and 390 RBI in five minor league seasons before leaving for Japan.
