Mets sign infielder/outfielder TY Kelly

The New York Mets today announced the club has signed infielder/outfielder Ty Kelly to a minor league contract with an invite to Major League Spring Training.
 
Kelly, 27, played at the Triple-A level for two different organizations in 2015. He began the season in the Cardinals' organization with the Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League and played in 79 games, while hitting .203 (46-227). He was claimed off waivers by Toronto on July 22 and spent the remainder of the season with Triple-A Buffalo of the International League. In 38 games with the Bisons, the switch-hitting Kelly batted .264 (38-144) with four doubles, one home run and 12 RBI.
 
In 316 career games at the Triple-A level, Kelly has batted .261 (277-1060) with 22 home runs and 132 RBI.
 
Kelly was originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 13th round of the 2009 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of California at Davis. Kelly played his first four and a half years in the Orioles' system, reaching as high as Triple-A Norfolk of the International League, before being traded to Seattle during the 2013 campaign. He was acquired by St. Louis following the 2014 season.
