With Atchison to DL, Mets recall Brown
ATLANTA -- As expected, the Mets placed right-handed reliever Scott Atchison back on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday, recalling outfielder Andrew Brown from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Atchison suffered a strained right groin while warming up during Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader. It would have been his first appearance since returning from a month-long DL stint with right elbow inflammation.
Recalling Brown allowed the Mets to re-balance their roster, increasing their bench back to five men while proceeding temporarily with an eight-man bullpen.
Brown, 28, hit .200 with one home run in 15 at-bats with the Mets earlier this season. He is capable of playing both corner outfield positions, as well as first base.
