Wright returns after missing one game

NEW YORK -- David Wright was back in the Mets' lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers after missing Friday's game with a swollen right thumb. He went 0-for-5 in the 4-2 loss to the Brewers, including grounding into a double play with the potential winning run on third base in the ninth, and left seven men on base.

"I just told him to keep me informed during the game," manager Terry Collins said before the game. "If it gets to the point he's not sure he can swing or whatever, re-aggravates it, just to say something."

The third baseman jammed his thumb Thursday night when Brewers starter Johnny Hellweg hit Wright on the left side of his helmet with an 86-mph changeup in the third inning. Wright immediately fell, and jammed his right thumb on the ground. It was still swollen on Friday, keeping him out of the lineup.

Wright passed all concussion tests after leaving Thursday's game, and completed more running drills on Friday without experiencing a headache. But team doctors advised him to rest the thumb for 24 more hours and allow the swelling to go down.

Before leaving the clubhouse on Friday night, Wright said he hoped to play Saturday. He got his wish, as Collins wrote him into the lineup, batting in his customary third spot in the order.
