NEW YORK -- With one swing of the bat on Thursday, outfielder Yoenis Cespedes pumped some life into a Mets offense that desperately needed some.
Cespedes blasted a 441-foot home run into the upper deck in left field at Citi Field to get New York on the board in the sixth inning of its 4-3 comeback win over the Cubs.
Prior to the homer, the Mets had scored just two runs in their previous 29 innings.
"I think [that home run] woke us up," manager Terry Collins said. "He hasn't hit one in a while, and that was a big one. I really think that got the guys energized and showed that we still had a chance there, and they proved it."

The home run, which left Cespedes' bat at 110 mph, per Statcast™, was the longest hit by a Mets player this season. It also was the first regular-season homer to reach the upper deck at Citi Field.
"It was a 2-0 pitch," Cespedes said. "The plan was to swing, and swing hard."
Cespedes has averaged a home run every 13.7 at-bats this season, the sixth-highest mark in the league, but Thursday's bomb was his first since June 21, snapping a drought of 31 at-bats.
As of Wednesday, Cespedes led all National League outfielders in All-Star voting, ahead of the Cubs' Dexter Fowler and the Nationals' Bryce Harper, so the solo shot also proved to be his final bid to get some additional votes.
