Summary
Dean Curley’s two-out, two-run home run powered the Akron RubberDucks to an 8-6 win over the Harrisburg Senators in 10 innings on Tuesday night at 7 17 Credit Union Park.
Turning Point
After back-to-back strikeouts, Harrisburg looked to send the game to an 11th inning. But Curley launched the 1-1 pitch to the ribbon board beyond the left-center wall to Akron give the walk-off win.
Mound Presence
Rafe Schlesinger got the start for Akron on Tuesday and allowed four runs over 2.1 innings while striking out two. Jay Driver followed with 2.2 scoreless innings and two strikeouts. Michael Kennedy allowed one run over three innings. Carter Rustad allowed a run in the ninth but was able to set the Senators down in order in the top of the tenth.
Duck Tales
Harrisburg jumped out to an early lead 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Akron quickly answered back. Ryan Cesarini hit a solo home run on the first pitch of the bottom of the first to make it 2-1 Harrisburg. After the Senators added two in the third, Akron struck back in the fourth. Bennett Thompson lined a two-run double off the top of the wall in left to cut the Harrisburg lead down to 4-3. The RubberDucks were able to pull ahead in the bottom of the fifth. Cesarini opened the inning with a single before advancing to second on a walk by Jaison Chourio. Three batters later, Aaron Walton hit a three-run home run off the batting eye in center to make it 6-4 Akron.
