Jace LaViolette hit his first Double-A home run, but the Harrisburg Senators scored in each of the last six innings to beat the Akron RubberDucks 10-6 on Wednesday night at 7 17 Credit Union Park.

Turning Point

Harrisburg’s offense exploded in the seventh. The Senators scored four times in the inning highlighted by a two-run single by Kevin Bazzell to make it 8-5 Harrisburg.  

Mound Presence

Ryan Degges was sharp once again in his start for Akron. The right-hander sat down the first 10 men he faced on his way to 5.1 innings allowing three runs while striking out three. Dylan DeLucia allowed five runs (four earned) over 1.2 innings. Cam Walty struck out three and allowed two runs over two innings.

Duck Tales

Akron’s offense got going early on Wednesday. Jaison Chourio worked a one-out walk in the first before LaViolette launched a two-run home run to left-center to make it 2-0 Akron. The RubberDucks added two more in the second as a Dean Curley single and Bennett Thompson walk set up Alex Mooney for a two-run double to make it 4-0 Akron. Nolan Schubart launched a solo home run in the third. Akron added one more run in the seventh when LaViolette singled home Christian Knapczyk to make it 8-6 Senators.

LaViolette’s home run was his first with Akron and 20th on the season…Schubart’s home run was his sixth with Akron and 26th on the season…Ryan Cesarini’s 12 game hitting streak was snapped in the loss…Game Time: 2:45…Attendance: 2,502.
