Turning Point
Akron jumped in front with a huge second inning. The first four batters of the inning reached with Alex Mooney bringing home a run with an RBI single. After Christian Knapczyk’s sac-fly added another run, Chourio lined a double off the wall in center to score Mooney and make it 3-0 Akron.
Mound Presence
Rafe Schlesinger worked around traffic most of the night. The left-hander allowed four singles but allowed just two runners to reach second. In total, Schlesinger tossed 4.1 scoreless innings while striking out two. Carter Rustad tossed 1.2 scoreless innings. Zane Morehouse struck out two over two scoreless innings. Zach Jacobs worked a perfect ninth.
Duck Tales
Akron added three more runs in the fourth when Walton lined a doubled into the gap in left center to make 6-0 RubberDucks. Three more runs scored in the fifth on back-to-back bases loaded walks and an RBI fielder’s choice to put the RubberDucks ahead 9-0.
