Turning Point
Akron’s offense got going early and often in the home finale. The RubberDucks struck for four in the first highlighted by Aaron Walton’s bases loaded walk and Luke Hill’s two-run single.
Mound Presence
Ryan Degges got the start in the series finale allowing two runs over 4.2 innings while striking out two. Jay Driver allowed an unearned run over 2.1 innings. Magnus Ellerts and Dylan DeLucia combined to allow three runs over the final two innings.
Duck Tales
Akron added three more runs in the second on Nolan Schubart’s home run to the bullpens. In the fourth, Aaron Walton tacked on two more runs with a two-run home run to the canal. Maick Collado lifted a sac-fly to center to score Bennett Thompson in the fifth. Schubart and Thompson each picked up RBI singles in the sixth before Thompson capped the big offensive night with an RBI single in the eighth.
