The Albuquerque Isotopes announced their annual end-of-season player awards in an on-field ceremony prior to tonight’s contest. Unless otherwise noted, the award winners were chosen by a vote of their teammates.
Outfielder Zac Veen was named the club’s Most Valuable Player. Over 100 games, he slashed .327/.402/.635 with 33 doubles, 8 triples, 24 homers, 18 steals and 87 RBI. Among Pacific Coast League (PCL) leaders, he ranks first in slugging, OPS (1.037) and extra-base hits (65), second in doubles and average, third in triples, fourth in home runs and total bases (249), sixth in RBI and seventh in OBP. On August 8, he established a franchise record with 17 total bases after going 5-for-5 with three homers, a double, triple and seven RBI. His 17 total bases are also tied for the most in MiLB since at least 2005. Veen recorded the 14th three-homer game in Isotopes history and became the first Isotope with five extra-base hits in a contest. Veen also earned PCL Player of the Week honors twice and was named PCL Player of the Month for June.
Outfielder Sterlin Thompson was voted by Isotopes fans as the Fan Favorite. In 90 games played, he is slashing .323/.467/.518 with 18 doubles, two triples, 13 homers, 60 RBI and 21 stolen bases. He needs seven at-bats over the final two contests to qualify for the league leaderboard, which would rank him first in OBP, second in OPS (.985) and fourth in average and slugging. Additionally, his .467 OBP is the highest in all of MiLB. He set an Isotopes franchise record by reaching base seven times on May 1 vs. El Paso after going 5-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, four RBI and two walks. Thompson also registered a 33-game on-base streak from April 2 – May 15, tied for the third-longest in the PCL in 2026.
First baseman/right fielder Charlie Condon was named the Power Hitter of the Year. Over 128 games, he compiled a .275/.389/.513 slash line with 25 doubles, seven triples, 26 homers and 94 RBI. Among PCL leaders is third in runs (104), extra-base hits (58), home runs (26) and total bases (252), fourth in RBI and slugging, fifth in triples, sixth in walks (76) and OPS (.902), ninth in hits (135) and 12th in OBP. His 104 runs scored on the year are five away from Sam Hilliard’s franchise record. His 94 RBI are the most for an Isotope since Roberto Ramos (105, 2019) and his 26 home runs are the most since Carlos Pérez blasted 31 in 2022. He registered 12 home runs over 400 ft. and has the longest dinger by an Isotope in 2026 (461 ft), ninth-longest in the PCL.
Pitcher of the Year honors went to left-hander Evan Shawver. Over 25 appearances (three starts), Shawver registered a 2.49 ERA (47.0 IP, 13 ER) with 43 punchouts and a 1.47 WHIP. He has recorded the lowest ERA among PCL pitchers with at least 47 innings, 10th-lowest in Triple-A and third-lowest in franchise history. Shawver did not allow a run in 13 of his 25 appearances on the year and never permitted more than three tallies in an outing.
Chad Stevens showed his defensive prowess by playing all over the diamond, earning him Defensive Player of the Year honors. He played 49 games at third base, 32 at shortstop, 14 at second base and one at first base.
Outfielder Drew Avans was selected as the Mr. Hustle award winner. In 111 games, Avans swiped 30 bags, the 11thIsotope to tally 30+ steals in a season and 12th occurrence (Dee Gordon twice). Avans and Cole Carrigg became the second pair of Isotopes teammates to swipe 30+ bags in the same season (also: Reggie Abercrombie, 41, and Eric Reed, 30, in 2007).
Right-handed pitchers TJ Shook and Patrick Weigel were both honored as the Jennifer Riordan Most-Community Minded Person. This award is chosen by Isotopes Community Relations Manager Brandon Ortega for their dedicated service to the Albuquerque community.
