Zac Veen Named PCL Player of the Week

August 3rd, 2026

Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Zac Veen has been named Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for July 28-August 2, it was announced today by Major League Baseball.

Veen was the biggest contributor in the Isotopes six-game sweep at El Paso, as the club set franchise records by tallying 75 total runs and launching 19 home runs in a series.  He started all six games and went 13-for-29 with four doubles, a triple, four home runs and 14 RBI.

Over the last week, Veen led the PCL total bases (31), RBI, runs scored (11), slugging (1.069) and OPS (1.584), while tying for the lead in doubles, homers (along with teammate Adael Amador) and placing second in hits (13).

Veen showed his knack in the clutch on Thursday, as he started a decisive five-run eighth inning rally with a solo homer, than capped the frame by drawing a bases-loaded walk.  He collected two doubles and a home run on Sunday, his fourth game with three extra-base hits this season – the first Isotopes player to accomplish the feat in a single campaign since John Lindsey in 2010.

On Sunday, Veen became the eighth Isotopes player in team history to record at least 20 home runs and 30 doubles in a season, and the first since Wynton Bernard in 2022 (Bernard had 21 homers and 31 doubles).

This marks Veen’s fourth weekly award of his pro career, including winning the honor when he played in the Arizona Fall League after the 2022 campaign.  Additionally, he was also named Pacific Coast League Player of the Month in June this year.

It is the fourth weekly nod for an Albuquerque player in 2026, as Cole Carrigg (April 28-May 3) and Charlie Condon (June 23-28) previously garnered recognition for their work at the plate, and Eiberson Castellano was named Pitcher of the Week (June 2-7).

Veen and the Isotopes return tomorrow to launch a six-game homestand against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. Tickets for all 24 remaining Isotopes home games this season are available at abqisotopes.com or the Isotopes Park Box Office.
