CURVE, Pa. – The Curve picked up a second straight win over the Chesapeake Baysox with a 4-1 decision in front of 5,519 fans at Peoples Natural Gas Field on Friday night.
Curve starter Matt Ager fired six strong innings to earn the win. Ager’s six-inning outing featured five strikeouts and no walks. The lone run he permitted came in the sixth inning when Anderson De Los Santos singled home Thomas Sosa to even the game at one apiece.
The Curve sent nine hitters to the plate in the seventh, taking advantage of two hit batters, a fielder's choice and a walk with the bases loaded to take a 4-1 lead that the Curve bullpen closed out.
In the seventh inning, Cy Nielson came on and tossed two scoreless innings allowing just one hit and one walk with three punch outs. Righty Jaycob Deese sat Chesapeake down in the ninth inning with a 12 pitch inning to earn his second save of the season and just the fourth save in July for the club.
Murf Gray singled and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, extending his on-base streak to 12 games in a Curve uniform. Lonnie White Jr. and Keiner Delgado each had two hits in the victory. Altoona earned the win with seven singles and no extra-base hits.
Altoona faces Chesapeake in game four of the series on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Altoona will send RHP Kyle Robinson to the mound to face RHP Pat Reilly for the Baysox.
