CURVE, Pa. – Altoona earned a series split and season series victory over the Baysox with a 4-3 come-from-behind win on Sunday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Titus Dumitru drove in three of the Curve’s four runs with his sixth inning two-RBI single and his ninth inning game-tying double. It marks his fourth three-RBI game of the season. Jesus Castillo sent Dumitru home to score the game’s winning run with his bases-loaded two-out flare into centerfield. Castillo notched his 11th multi-hit game with Altoona.
On the mound, Connor Oliver tossed six strong innings in his second start of the week. Oliver faced the minimum through the first three innings and allowed just one run, a solo homer to Doug Hodo III in the sixth inning, on two hits and one walk in his outing. Oliver struck out five and has completed 6.0 innings three times in his last five starts. He’s struck out 17 batters in his last 16.0 innings on the mound.
Callan Moss reached all four times with three hits and a walk. His leadoff single in the ninth set up the rally as Ryan McCarty pinch ran for Moss and stole second base before Dumitru’s double scored him.
Jaycob Deese earned the win with two innings out of the pen. He yielded one unearned run and a hit. The Baysox tied the game off Emmanuel Chapman in the seventh with a solo homer from Dom Keegan.
Altoona opens a new week of baseball on Tuesday night at Erie 6:05 p.m. Altoona will send RHP Dominic Pipkin to the mound to face RHP Kenny Serwa for the SeaWolves.
