White, Wietgrefe, Moss, Dumitru Take Home 2026 Season Awards

White Jr. named Team MVP with career-highs in home runs (26) and RBI (67).

CURVE, PA – Prior to Sunday’s game against the Akron RubberDucks, the Altoona Curve honored four players with awards for their achievements during the 2026 season. Outfielder Lonnie White Jr. was named the Team’s Most Valuable Player, LHP Connor Wietgrefe was named the team’s Pitcher of the Year, Callan Moss took home the team’s Iron Man of the Year award, and Titus Dumitru was named the team’s Unsung Hero.

Lonnie White Jr. earned the team’s Most Valuable Player Award after he emerged as one of the top hitters in Double-A baseball this season. White Jr. leads the Curve with 19 home runs and ranks 4th in the league in OPS (.866) and 3rd in slugging percentage (.500). The 23-year-old from Coatesville, PA recorded the team’s longest hit streak (12 games) and on-base streak (23 games) during the season.

White Jr. turned in the best season of his professional career in 2026. Entering Sunday he is third among Pirates minor leaguers in homers this season with 26 and has set his career-high with 67 RBI this season.

Connor Wietgrefe earned the Eastern League’s Pitcher of the Month award in June after finishing his time with Altoona with 18.0 consecutive scoreless innings pitched. He allowed just 1 run in his final month with the Curve and went 4-1 with a 3.51 ERA in 14 outings with the Curve. At the time of his promotion to Triple-A Indianapolis, Wietgrefe won four straight starts and led the Curve in ERA and strikeouts with 69. Entering play on Sunday he ranks 3rd among Pirates minor leaguers in strikeouts with 127 this season.

Callan Moss was named the Iron Man of the Year in 2026. Moss played more games than any other Curve player in 2026, finishing with 123 games, and batting in the middle of Altoona’s batting order throughout the season. Altoona’s first baseman reached base safely in 100 of 123 games this season and ranks 5th in the Eastern League in hits (125) and 5th in doubles (26) entering play on Sept. 13.

Titus Dumitru took home the Unsung Hero Award for his daily presence in the middle of the Curve order. Dumitru ranks 8th in the Eastern League in extra-base hits (43) entering play on Sunday, September 13 and is 6th in the league in doubles (25).
