AMARILLO, TX (October 15, 2026) – The Amarillo Sod Poodles today announced that Banana Ball will be returning to the Panhandle in 2027. Banana Ball arrived in Amarillo for the first time ever during their 2026 tour and will once again make a stop in Amarillo in May 2027 featuring a series of matchups between the Texas Tailgaters and the Firefighters at HODGETOWN.
On May 14 & 15 next year, two Banana Ball teams will take the field at HODGETOWN to put their one-of-a-kind style of America’s Pastime on display with the Texas Tailgaters facing off against the Firefighters on both dates. Everything from trick plays, to choreographed dances, to a uniquely different scoring system will make for an energetic setting in the Yellow City.
“Banana Ball was a blast and a wildly successful event when they came to Amarillo for the first time this past year,” said Sod Poodles President and General Manager, Tony Ensor. “Our fanbase responded so positively to this event on their last tour and we can’t wait to bring them back again. This is such a unique experience and we’re ecstatic to be able to provide another weekend full of Banana Ball fun to the Panhandle.”
Established just over a decade ago, the Savannah Bananas started as a summer collegiate baseball team in the Coastal Plain League. After several successful seasons on and off the field, the Bananas announced in 2022 that the organization would exclusively play a new style of baseball on a full-time basis known as Banana Ball. Motivated by their mission to make baseball more fast-paced, entertaining, and fun, Banana Ball has become a worldwide hit as their traveling band of banana ballers has reached every corner of the country, putting on shows in some of the most legendary stadiums the United States has to offer.
Fans are now able to enter their name into the Ticket Lottery List for a chance to witness the joy of Banana Ball in Amarillo. No new entries will be accepted after 11:59 p.m. ET on October 31. A random drawing will take place afterwards to determine which fans who submitted their name in the lottery will be granted access to purchase tickets for Banana Ball at HODGETOWN. Standard ticket prices start at $35.
