AMARILLO, TX (August 4, 2026) – Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder and former Amarillo Sod Poodle Jordan Lawlar is expected to begin a rehab assignment with the Soddies on Tuesday, August 4, as Amarillo takes on the Arkansas Travelers (Seattle Mariners) on the road at Dickey-Stephens Park.
Lawlar, a 24-year-old outfielder from Texas, landed on the 10-day injured list on June 20 with a right hamstring strain. He is expected to suit up for the Sod Poodles as Amarillo opens a six-game road series against Arkansas to begin his Major League rehab assignment.
A first-round draft pick by the Diamondbacks in 2021 (6th overall), Lawlar made his debut with the Sod Poodles at 20 years old on August 23, 2022, spending the remainder of the campaign in the Panhandle. He returned to Amarillo to open the 2023 season and played 89 games with the Sod Poodles that year, batting .263 (92-for-350) with 77 runs, 23 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs, 48 RBI, and a .840 OPS.
Formerly Arizona’s top-ranked prospect, Lawlar made his Major League debut on September 7, 2023, recording his first big league hit off of Javier Assad of the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in the fourth inning. He has appeared in 54 Major League games, slashing .207/.289/.296 for his career with the Diamondbacks over three seasons.
