More rare than a three-homer game and comparable to the frequency of a no-hitter for a pitcher, the cycle proved to be elusive over the first six seasons of Soddies baseball. But on a Wednesday night in Midland, Texas, Druw Jones made history by completing the first cycle in Sod Poodles history.
Jones’ big night came as part of a 10-2 win over the RockHounds on April 29, and just under two months later, Demetrio Crisantes joined the fun and recorded the first Sod Poodles cycle at HODGETOWN. In an 18-4 drubbing of the Frisco RoughRiders on June 28, no player part of the Sod Poodles hit machine on that Sunday evening was firing on all cylinders like Crisantes was.
The tandem of Soddies cyclists will be immortalized on Sunday, August 30 ahead of the 1:05 p.m. series finale against the Corpus Christi Hooks, where the first 1,200 fans through the HODGETOWN gates will receive a special t-shirt to commemorate the history made by both players earlier this season.
