The Sky Carp jumped out to a 6-0 lead but struggled after the second inning, eventually falling 12-6 to the Quad Cities River Bandits Saturday night at ABC Supply Stadium.
The huge crowd of 2,053 stayed through the final out and were rewarded with a fantastic post-game fireworks show.
The Carp began the game with four runs in the first inning. Abrahan Ramirez hit an RBI single, followed by a two-run double from Esmil Valencia. Wilson Weber capped the scoring with an RBI single to left field.
The good times continued to roll in the second, with Brandon Compton crushing a two-run homer to left field.
The River Bandits began their comeback with four runs, all coming with two outs, in the fourth inning. Quad Cities scored one run in the sixth to cut the deficit to 6-5, then unleashed a seven-run barrage in the eighth to take control of the game.
