BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, announced on Monday that infielder Mitch Voit was named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week of July 28-August 2.
Voit, who ranks as the Mets’ No. 5 prospect, produced a .500 AVG (11-for-22), .593 OBP, .909 SLG, and 1.502 OPS in six games against the Reading Fightin Phils at FirstEnergy Stadium this past week. In his first series at the Double-A level, Voit hit one home run and recorded five runs batted in, 10 runs, six extra-base hits, four doubles, one triple, five walks, and three stolen bases.
On Sunday in the series finale, the 21-year-old turned in a career-best performance with career-highs in hits and runs batted in. Voit went 4-for-5 with five runs batted in, and three runs scored. He was a triple shy of the cycle with a solo home run, a pair of two-run doubles, and a single. Voit hit his first Double-A home run on a leadoff home run on the first pitch of the game, singled in the second inning, and hit a two-run double in both the fourth and eighth innings.
After being promoted to Double-A Binghamton prior to the series on July 27, Voit reached base safely in all six games and reached base 16 total times. In addition to his four-hit game on Sunday, Voit recorded three extra-base hits and reached base four times in his Double-A debut on Tuesday.
Voit, who was drafted by the Mets with the 38th overall pick in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft out of the University of Michigan, ranked among the Eastern League: R (1st), 2B (1st), 3B (T-1st), XBH (T-1st), H (T-2nd), AVG (3rd), OBP (3rd), SB (T-3rd), SLG (4th), and OPS (4th) last week.
This is Voit’s first Eastern League award and first award at any level in Minor League Baseball. It also marks Binghamton’s first Eastern League weekly award of the season and the first since Ryan Clifford won Eastern League Player of the Week for July 21-27, 2025. Last season, Binghamton garnered seven weekly awards, four monthly awards, and three yearly awards in the Eastern League.
Voit, who is in his first full season of professional baseball, has now produced a .260 AVG, .366 OBP, .432 SLG, and .798 OPS with 12 HR, 46 RBI, 57 R, 39 XBH, and 39 SB across High-A Brooklyn and Double-A Binghamton. He leads the Mets organization with 39 stolen bases.
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies open a six-game home series against the Hartford Yard Goats (Double-A, Colorado Rockies) at Mirabito Stadium on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:07 p.m. The game will be broadcast on MiLB.TV, WNBF News Radio 1290 AM and 92.1 FM, and on the WNBF App.
