Barons Cruise to 6-2 Victory Over Lookouts on Saturday night

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn -- Dylan Campbell had two hits and two RBI as the Birmingham Barons won 6-2 over the Chattanooga Lookouts before 6,605 at Erlanger Park on Saturday night. The Barons pounded out 10 hits and now have won five in a row over the Lookouts in this series.

Starting pitcher Connor McCullough pitched 4.2 innings, giving up only four hits, no runs, and no walks with seven strikeouts. Pierce George (5-2, 6.95) got the win, going 1.1. innings, giving up one hit, no runs, and a walk with two strikeouts. Liam Paddack pitched two innings, giving up two hits, no runs, and one walk with two strikeouts. Jonathan Clark pitched one inning, giving up three hits, two earned runs, and a walk with two strikeouts.

Birmingham (25-25, 51-68) scored in the top of the second inning. With one out, Colby Shelton walked. Jorge Corona singled. James Taussig doubled to center field, scoring Shelton, and the Barons took the early 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, Caleb Bonemer hit a solo home run over the left field wall, his 15th of the season. The Barons led 2-0.

In the top of the third inning, Corona singled. Taussig singled. With two outs, Javi Rivera threw a wild pitch to move Corona to third base. Dylan Campbell singled to center field, scoring Corona, and the Barons led 3-0.

In the top of the eighth inning, Alec Briley doubled to left field. Anthony DePino followed with a two-run home run to center field, his 17th of the season. The Barons led 5-0. 

In the top of the ninth inning, Dylan Campbell hit a home run to left field, and the Barons led 6-0, his seventh home run of the season.

In the bottom of the ninth, Kien Vu hit a two-run home run to cut the Barons lead to 6-2. 

For the Barons, Campbell, Corona, and Taussig had two hits apiece. Bonemer, DePino, and Campbell hit home runs.

Up next, the Barons will play Game 6 of the six-game series on Sunday. LHP Lucas Gordon (3-6, 5.13 will take the mound for the Barons, while RHP Ryan Garcia (0-2, 11.12) will start for the Lookouts. First pitch is at noon (CT).
